To efficiently respond to requests and manage the employment of off-duty deputy sheriffs, the

Roanoke City Sheriff's Office has partnered with Extra Duty Solutions to provide services related to

hiring off-duty deputies effective October 6, 2026.

​

You will have access to a full-service customer portal where you can submit job requests, track your job status, review invoices, make payments, and much more. You will also have access to Extra Duty Solutions' dedicated account team 24/7/365 if you ever have a question or need assistance.

Rates (Two-Hour Minimum)

Rates are inclusive of all fees, and are per deputy, per hour:

Standard Deputy Rate: $60.50 per hour​

Supervisor Rate: $66.00 per hour

Short Notice Rate (less than 24 hour notice): $71.50 per hour

*Fees included but are not limited to agency admin fees, scheduling fees, taxes, etc. Please be advised that displayed hourly rates are system-generated and may reflect minor rounding differences (typically no more than $.03 due to the division of total compensation by hours worked. It is Extra Duty Solutions' practice not to revise invoices due to these rounding effects. Rates are subject to change at the Sheriff's Office's discretion.

• 5 to 9 officers requires one supervisor.

• 10 to 14 officers requires two supervisors.

• 15 to 20 officers requires three supervisors.
