On Friday, October 3rd, members of the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office participated in a dynamic leadership training titled "Transforming Culture through Leadership," a session led by Mr. Jon Morris, President & Chief Executive Officer of HopeTree Family Services. He is a seasoned professional who has served in multiple leadership roles across various agencies. We are truly thankful for his willingness to share his experience, insight, and practical tools for understanding oneself and the road to effective leadership.
Throughout the session, staff engaged in a series of interactive exercises, including those focused on teamwork and communication. Activities challenged participants to see how well they could work together to accomplish a task and reflect on an essential question: When you lead, are you sure your team understands what you’re communicating?
These hands-on lessons reminded everyone that success is built on collaboration, clarity, and mutual respect, the same principles that lie at the heart of what our agency strives to do each day.
Sheriff Hash believes that leadership training is not just one training but a continued investment. He and the executive team remain committed to strengthening the skills of today’s leaders while building and inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
